November 29th:
What a run we are having!
Lake effect and upslope snow yesterday and last night produced some Champlain cold smoke this morning. Snowfall amounts from the last 24 hours ranged from 6 to 12 inches depending on where you were on the mountain as they were many spots that were wind loaded and skied even deeper. Skiers and riders who chose to earn their turns this morning were grinning from ear to ear with face shots galore as pictured. Even when the lifts started to spin, there was plenty of uncut lines and soft snow to be found everywhere. I’m sure patrol is dropping some ropes as we speak as we will continue to see terrain and trail counts expand.
This is one of the best starts we have had in quite some time as late “Snowvember” has certainly been one to remember. With close to two feet of natural snow this week, the mountain is set up fantastically going into the month of December and as we set our sights on the busy Christmas week push.
The backcountry has also received a really nice base that we hopefully can continue to build on. We are advising everyone to please stay out of the backcountry until we receive more snow and let the base continue to set up and build.
Needless to say, if you have not had a chance to get out, make some time. Call out sick, play hooky from school and thoroughly enjoy what we have because as all New Englanders know, things can change quickly around here. Take advantage of the great conditions were are having and make time to get out there and enjoy!
