Everyone needs a great vest in their clothing quiver.  They have so many uses and are great for outdoor activities that require a lot of movement and anerobic activity.  The Norrona Lyngen Alpha 90 Vest is a lightweight vest that was made for ski touring, but can certainly hold its own for many other applications.  The Lyngen is constructed of a lightweight double weave recycled Nylon Aero100 fabric that provides the perfect combination of light weight, breathability and wind protection, plus some great stretch for unrestricted movements.  The outside of the vest is treated with a durable 20D ripstop quality with a PFC-free DWR treatment to provide water resistance.  Polartec Alpha insulation provides a nice warm layer inside the jacket, while still be being able to release body heat to keep you cool when you are working hard.  Other features would include zippered hand and chest pockets, a helmet compatible hood with a one-hand adjustment, and an inner planket to help prevent cold spots, as well as an elastic bottom hem for handy micro-adjusting.  A lower back panel provides extra protection from the elements too.  For backcountry skiing, cool weather cycling, running or hiking, or evening an evening sail, its nice to have a little extra protection to take the edge off dropping temperatures.  The Norrona Lyngen Alpha 90 Vest will help keep you warm and comfortable during those shoulder season time periods when its not cold enough for a full jacket but not warm enough for just a next to skin layer either.
