To say things locked up yesterday afternoon is an understatement. 3 different of colors of ice were observed at the top of the Gondola as some of the Mountain Ops staff lift served skied for a few late afternoon laps prior to the black out for the weekend for the local pass. Heading into the backcountry today is not advised. After a mix of some rain to an inch of snow yesterday, temperatures plummeted and the winds howled, up to 60 miles per hour. This seized up the snow and turned all surfaces at all elevations into very firm conditions. This morning was yet another beautiful sunrise and for those who chose to earn their turns today, sticking to the resort is a must. Early morning risers braved the very spicy Nosedive headwall. As you can see in the picture, conditions were so firm that most people has to sidestep up the headwall and turns. Great skinning technique is required, crampons are advised. Stop by the shop for a full selection of crampons for your clamps. It will certainly make you look like a skinning super star on ice. Great day to skin Tollhouse if you want to get out.   Low angle and access is good all day long.
