January 30th
We lucked out! We received 3-4” of snow above 1,200 feet between yesterday afternoon and last night, despite it raining down low in the village of Stowe. The skiing up high is very good with soft snow on top of very good supported firm base. Below that elevation, we received a mix of sleet and rain which has crusted up the snow and made the turns very challenging. Keep that in mind as you venture out today. Staying high is the key to finding soft, uncut powder that will sincerely gratify you with each and every turn that you make. It was a beautiful sunrise this morning and the sky popped blue till about 9am. It’s a sneaky, pow morning out there today! If you have a chance to get out, today is one of those days that you will be pleasantly surprised by the conditions. As always, ski with care, watch out for open water, (especially down low) and always ski with a partner.
