The Kastle TX 103 is the widest offering in the TX line up, boasting a 103-millimter waist under the boot. At this surface width, the TX 103 has great ability to float in the deep stuff, slice through cut up snow and crud, and even rail a groomer too. Tipping the scales at just 1550 grams, these skis feel so light underfoot you barely know you have them on. Making this an ideal touring ski. As per usual with the Kastle skis, the TX 103 gets the Hollowtech treatment, with the 3.0 oval up top to reduce vibrations and chatter. On the uphills, the flatter tail and the tip rocker combine with the weight to make a quick climber. Built with a blend of poplar and paulownia wood, the skis give a great combination of light weight energy from the paulownia and strong stability due to the poplar. Kastle then gives the ski what can best be described as a fiberglass and carbon sock around that core, keeping it all together as one cohesive unit. This is the type of construction that sets Kastle apart from the competition, and makes the ski feel and ski much differently than its competitive set in its 100 plus waist class.Â
