Volkl Blaze 94
The Volkl Blaze 94 has a dual personality. Part freeride ski and part capable ski tourer, it redefines what a one ski quiver can and should be. With a 94-millimeter waist under the boot, we are getting into the sweet spot of what many industry experts call the ideal all -mountain width. Built with a hybrid multi-layer wood core, the skis have a light and energetic foundation. On top of that core underfoot, a Titanal metal binding retention plate ensures your binding won’t rip out and provides for dampness and edge grip. In the tips and tails, Volkl uses a rubber material to reduce vibrations, in conjunction with the retention plate makes for a smooth, solid and stable ride at higher speeds. And because of its lightweight (1546 grams) when you mount a hybrid touring binding on like a Marker Kingpin, you can skin to your heart’s content as well as rip hot laps off the lift all day long. They are extremely versatile and have no weaknesses for any terrain and almost any condition but the deepest of powder days. Skiers who are looking for a one pair of skis to tackle a wide variety of applications at the resort and beyond will certainly gravitate towards the Volkl Blaze 94.Â
