February 1st
Hard to believe we are into February today! No new snow to report but a cold start to the morning for our weekly Rise and Grind group community skin up the classic Nosedive trail at Stowe this morning. Each and every Wednesday we meet at 5:45am for 6am departure up the Dive. Please join us! All ability levels are welcome and encouraged. Due to these cold temperatures this morning, we would recommend a cold wax for your ski bases today for your descent once you reach the top of your adjective. The snow was extra grippy and sticky for the up, but it was also this way for the down today. A good wax really helped the skis glide for your ride down! Wind effected snow can be expected up in the higher elevations such as the Chin, the Notch chutes and upper reaches of the backcountry. Yesterday’s light and airy snow that we received certainly got blown around a bit, but if you can find those coveted areas that are protected from the wind, you will be rewarded with nice powder turns again today. Hope everyone had a great Hump Day as we are getting into the meat of the winter season right now.
