March 13
For those who want to put in the effort, there is still soft snow to be found up high and on north facing slopes. Despite the warm up the last few days, temps and shaded areas in the upper elevations continue to provide soft turns and a powdery experience. But the key is knowing where to go and staying away from south facing aspects as they have become sun effected and crusted. Check out the snowpack on this picture. Almost covering the sign at the bottom. There is a solid and robust 65 plus inches at the upper Mansfield snow stake, by far the deepest base we have had all season. And it gets better. We have a Nor’easter on the way that will give us a much needed refresh across all elevations and surfaces. Forecast models are all over the place but we certainly can expect potentially big snow at higher elevations over the course of the next couple days so get ready and get psyched!
